1. Make sure that you play under the same player name AND ngStats password. Your ngUID (User Identification) is based upon both of these elements. If you play under the same player name but a different password, your stats will be applied to separate ngUIDs.
2. Dont play on servers with bots. Killing bots does not count towards your ngStats. However, being killed by bots or otherwise having your efficiency rating tarnished during a bot infested game can adversely effect your stats.
3. Try to play against players that are about equal to your skill level. You are not rewarded with many points by defeating players who are considerably worse than you. Likewise, if you join a server and are simply beaten into submission by elite players, you wont gain any points at all.
4. Play on servers with lots of other human players.
- You get more points for defeating players with a higher rating than you. Facing more opponents increases the chances that you will compete against players with higher ratings.
- The maximum points you can gain in any game is 40. The more players you compete against, the easier it is to reach this number.
5. Play on servers with a high frag (or flag capture or domination point) limit. You can only achieve the maximum 40 points in games that last 20 minutes or more.
6. Play a lot. The more time you spend playing, the more chances you have to increase your rating. Likewise, time spent away from the game is time others can use to surpass your rating. If you look at the stats of those in the 90+ percentile, most of them average 10+ games per day.
7. Efficiency is probably the most important individual stat to concentrate on when trying to increase your ngWorldStats rating.
Efficiency for kills = Kills / (Kills + Deaths + Suicides + Team Kills)
For vs another Player = Kills vs Player / (Kills vs Player + Deaths by Player)
To achieve a good efficiency rating:
- Concentrate on having the best kill to death ratio as possible (lots of kills/few deaths).
- Kill as many other players as possible to achieve multiple Kill vs. Player efficiency ratings.
- Don't kill yourself.
- Dont kill your team mates.
8. In Capture the Flag and Domination games where the final score is not based on individual frags, concentrate on having as high a score as possible. This can compensate for a poor kill / death ratio.
- Capture the Flag
Capturing the flag will get you 7 points while killing an opponent while they are carrying the flag will get you 4 points. In a game where your opponents have an active offense, you can rack up points faster by playing defense and scoring flag kills. Also, let the enemies who have infiltrated your flag room grab the flag before you take them down.
- Domination
Capture a control point and defend it for as long as possible. You will get extra points for every second that location is under your control.
9. In Last Man Standing, points are awarded just like they are in regular deathmatch with an emphasis on efficiency. This being so, winning a LMS game does not guarantee an increase in ranking as your kill / death ratio may have suffered during the extended time under fire.
10. Weekly rankings are reset every Saturday at midnight Greenwich Mean Time (7pm central time). If you are desperate to see yourself high in the weekly rankings, play just after the stats have been reset.
